G2 Social Media Management

As we continue our social media management (G2) series, this week’s article will talk about why having a personal profile is important to your business. You don’t want to be posting content and missing opportunities because you lack one or more profiles for your company.
It’s also worth noting that most people these days have at least two accounts- an official account like Facebook or Twitter and then another less formal account linked to their phone, e-mail, or other apps they use frequently.
This second account can sometimes be made public or private depending on what settings you choose. It doesn’t make sense to not invest in yourself and your career if you are going to use it!
There are many great free tools out there that allow you to create an online presence quickly and easily. Some even offer you automatic updates, which is helpful as you won’t always remember to do it yourself.
In this article I’ll go over some reasons why creating an individual profile is important for your business, along with some tips on how to do it correctly.
Create social profiles

A very important part of managing your online presence is creating different social media accounts to represent you, or at least what you want people to know about you.
This includes Facebook pages for businesses, Instagram and Twitter accounts that match with your niche, and YouTube channels that feature your skills or content that supports those brands.
By having these separate accounts, people can look through multiple sites and forms of communication to get a clear picture of who you are and what you stand for.
It also helps promote engagement by offering a place for your followers to reach you. By adding an email address or phone number to each account, they become able to contact you directly instead of via a back channel like WhatsApp or Snapchat.
Another way to use this exposure is to create groups and/or conversations on all of the accounts.
Connect with people on the internet

A lot of times, social media users will create an account just to check out how things work. You can easily find yourself surrounded by people all day every day, but no real connections are made!
Luckily, this is not too difficult to avoid in the beginning. Creating an account and connecting to people is something that most online communities offer.
By joining groups or creating your own, you get the opportunity to meet more people while also getting useful information.
It’s like having your very own little chat room where you can talk about anything – and anyone can listen!
This article will go over some ways to connect with other people via social media. There are many different sites that can help you achieve your goal, so choose one that fits you best.
Post consistently

After you have created an account for each social media platform, you will want to start posting on all of them! This can be tricky if you are not constantly putting out content. You may feel overwhelmed when you look at your schedule and think about how much time it takes to create a good quality post on each site.
That is totally normal! Just because someone else posts once a day does not mean that you should. It depends on what types of stories you want to tell and how active the community is on each site.
There are many ways to manage your social media presence. Some people focus more on sharing fun pictures or engaging in conversations, while others keep up with trends and events by reading and responding to comments and messages.
It really depends on what type of content you would like to see from you on each site.
Gain sponsorships or paid advertisements

As with any business, having a social media account is not enough to be successful. You will need to gain sponsors or create advertising campaigns to retain your followers and generate new ones.
By “sponsor” we mean something like Batteries Plus, who advertises by putting their brand logo next to yours in posts and ads. They pay you to mention them, so they look good!
For creating an advertisement or sponsored tweet, you can use tools such as Buffer, Sproutly, or HootSuite to help you. These apps have features that allow you to easily add content, choose keywords, and track results.
Grow your brand

As mentioned before, social media is a very powerful tool for any business to use. With all of this power comes the need to develop and grow your personal profile, company page, and influencer status.
As you begin to invest in your social media presence, there are two main things that you will be spending your time doing. Creating content or engaging with others.
Content can be anything from an update on your website, vlogs, an article, etc. Engagement means responding to comments, questions, and messages.
By having these- both internal and external- it creates a flow of activity which helps promote engagement and interaction.
There are several ways to manage your social accounts. You can hire freelancers, use third party apps, or create your own tools and functions.
This guide will go more into detail about managing Instagram accounts, but staying organized on other social sites such as Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook is similar.
Be honest

As mentioned before, social media is not about having a ton of followers or getting as many likes and comments for your posts as you can. It’s not even always about engaging in rich conversations with people. All of these things are very well needed to truly know how to use social media effectively, but they are only partials of what social media marketing really is.
The true goal of using social media as a business is to create engagement. You want to draw attention to whatever product or service you have so that others will talk about it and share information about it. They will do this because they want more of what you offer!
This is one reason why making yourself available on various social media platforms is important. Your potential customers need to be able to find you so that they may interact with you.
They could also come across something you said about your products or services and want to speak to you about it. By being accessible, they feel confident that they can get help from you if necessary.
Surprisingly, there are some ways to make yourself more accessible while still protecting personal privacy. For example, you can upload all of your pictures online so that anyone looking at them can see who you are. However, you can adjust your settings so that no-one else can access those pictures either. This way, nobody will ever know who you are unless you let them.
Do not post too much

A lot of people begin social media management by posting posts on all the various platforms using an automated system or software. This can be done quickly, but may lack quality content if you cannot keep up with the speed of the machine!
Instead of letting the computer do the work for you, take some time to review the accounts and see what messages get the most engagement. Find out which pictures and videos receive the most comments and likes and use those as your inspiration for new posts.
If you are very busy, try to allocate one hour per day to manage your account. You will still have enough time left over to interact with others and enjoy yourself.
By doing this, you will also notice that your followers increase due to improved interaction.
Link your accounts

It is very important to know which social media sites you have and what permissions they give their users. For example, if you use Twitter for business, make sure that you are not using it as a place to advertise for other companies or products.
If you would like to promote your product or service, then do so, but check to see if there is any copyright infringement first! This is why it is important to link all of your social networking profiles together.
You can do this by creating an account at a site such as LinkedIn. Once you have linked all these accounts together, you will be able to access everything from one location. Sites such as Google Plus also offer linking features.
