How To Use Google Trends For Marketing

A few years ago, doing some research online was limited to going onto a website and looking around. You would have to go into a specific area of a site to find an article or feature you were looking for, and even then, it might not be easy to find what you are searching for.
Now, almost everything is digital, which means there is no need to visit a site to do your business reading, listening to music, watching videos, or surfing the web. You can now access all of this content anywhere, any time!
With all of these tools at our disposal, it becomes difficult to know who to trust when they tell us something new about ourselves as people or businesses. As we already know, corporations spend millions of dollars every year on advertising, so why wouldn’t we use that information for ourselves?
Google trends is one such tool. It gives us detailed statistics about how frequently certain keywords and phrases appear in the past two years. By analyzing those numbers, we get some great insights into who is popular and what things mean to the public.
In this article, I will talk about some ways that you can use google trends data to promote your business or product. There are three main sections – using general trends, finding shifts in popularity, and using more advanced features.
Make sure you are using the correct Google Trends

There are two main reasons why making use of Google Trends can be important in marketing. The first is to determine what people are actively searching for, and how popular a search term or phrase is.
By looking at the trends over time, we can get some clues as to whether or not an item or service is successful. For example, if there was a sudden spike in searches for “best washable sweatshirts”, maybe people didn't find many they liked so those brands lost business.
The second reason is to see if there's any correlation between different keywords or phrases and other information. If there were similar patterns during a pandemic, say flu symptoms rose and fell, then that could indicate whether or not people have more urgent things to worry about than buying new clothes.
Create content that addresses their interest
A few years ago, creating engaging social media posts was very difficult. Now it is easy, even boring! With the explosion of the internet as well as social networking sites, there are now millions upon millions of ways to share information with other people.
With all those options, most people have a hard time finding inspiration to write new posts or take time to create an article focused on something meaningful.
This is totally normal. It’s what everyone else in the world seems to be doing, so why shouldn’t you?
It is impossible to know what people want to read, but by using free software like google trends, you can get some clues. By looking at how popular different topics are compared to past months, you will find things that are getting more attention and things that are becoming less popular.
Google trends is a great way to determine if your current topic is interesting to others. If it is, then keep sharing these articles about it, but if not then try changing something about it to see if that changes its popularity.
Your goal should be to create content that is unique and special, something that no one has ever written before.
Link your website to your social media profiles

In addition to helping you determine how popular a specific keyword is, doing this also helps show which accounts are linking to the same site.
By adding links to your site in Instagram stories or posting about related topics, you can see what accounts are bringing in traffic from your site.
This is especially helpful if you are trying to figure out who to approach for business collaborations or marketing opportunities.
You can also use these insights to find new influencers to connect with your company or brand.
Use promotional videos

A great way to use google trends is to do an in-depth analysis of specific keywords. You can do this by choosing any topic or keyword you want to research and clicking “Keyword Tools” under the tools section at the top.
Here, you will be able to pick both casual and professional level queries. The latter are usually longer and more formal so they may be costlier to produce but they help your business identify what people are talking about and how popular or unpopular certain topics are.
You can also check out which websites and blogs are using the same word as yours to see what kind of attention it is getting! This gives you an idea of whether that article was helpful or not and if others seem to agree with their approach.
There is no wrong way to use google trends when it comes to marketing yourself or your product, but you should know what types of strategies work well for your field.
Use paid advertising

A much more effective way to use google trends data in your marketing strategy is to use it as an indicator for whether or not to invest in advertisements. You can research how popular a specific search term is, and determine if that popularity is growing or shrinking.
If you notice that the popularity of the search query is rising, then that’s a good thing! It means people are looking up that information more frequently, so you should advertise your product or service on that site by running a targeted advertisement there.
On the other hand, if you see that the average time spent searching for the keyword has decreased, that may be due to poor quality of service received from a previous source. So do some research and make sure your product is better than what they were offering before!
Google gives us free access to all their products through their API, which allows you to connect them with whatever tool you want to use them in.
Use events

A good way to use trends as tools in your marketing toolbox is to look at how people are using trends right now and see what you can offer related to those products or services.
You can do this by looking at how popular certain searches are, how many times a specific word or phrase appears in an article or forum thread, and whether there’s been a dramatic change in interest in a product or topic.
The latter is called a tipping point. When enough people talk about something, it becomes important to advertisers. This is why you may hear about a health supplement that was all the rage several months ago but has gone out of style since then.
There could be dozens of reasons why people no longer think it works, so don't worry about what might cause someone not to buy your product. Instead, find ways to help them feel better and advertise directly on social media or through advertising blogs and websites.
A few examples: when talking about yoga, suggest investing in some beginner's classes or guides to learn more about the benefits. For weight loss tips, tell users where they can get healthy foods anywhere close by and encourage them to try these new foods. For wellness strategies, tell people about how eating well and exercising keeps you feeling happier.
These ideas and others like them can easily be found online and transferred into an advertisement if you're able to connect with the proper influencers.
Measure your success

The final key element in using GTs effectively is measuring your results! While having lots of visitors or views is great, it isn’t always measurable direct engagement with your products and services.
By adding an additional layer of complexity, you can look at not only how many people visited your site, but also what they were looking at and whether they interacted with content or not.
Google offers some very basic metrics such as visits, top pages, and time spent, but if you want more detail, you will have to use third-party tools to get those numbers.
There are several free tools that can help you measure engagement like clicks, videos watched, etc. But unfortunately, most don’t give full detailed reports so you may have to pay for slightly less comprehensive information.
That being said, I wouldn’t worry too much about paying for extended stats unless you really wanted them! Most sites offer enough information to make marketing decisions without needing all the details.
Grow your business

A rising trend means more people are actively looking into that topic, so it is a great way to generate attention for your product or service. If you are trying to determine what topics are popular around your niche, you can use this tool to find them!
Google trends allows you to compare different keywords over time. For example, if you were trying to figure out why yoga studios are in such high demand, you could look at past years to see what influenced growth of yoga classes.
By studying how courses have grown, you will get some insight as to why people want lessons in yoga and which areas of yoga are getting popularity. You can also do these comparisons among countries, cities, and states to gain insights about where there is significant interest in yoga.
