Does Influencer Marketing Really Work

As influencers proliferate, their influence grows. They earn a modest income from advertising the products or services they endorse, and that income grows as their followers increase.

Their followers believe they make these endorsements because they like the person, so they trust them to tell the truth about the product. In fact, most people assume that an “influencer” must have paid for expensive marketing tools or clothes to advertise them.

It is difficult to refute this assumption. After all, how can you prove that someone who has been paid to promote a company's product does not get some sort of compensation other than money?

The solution? Conduct your own experiment! Create a profile with a large audience (or create several) and spend time promoting a specific product or service. Your audience will determine if it works or not.

I've done just that, and I'm sharing my results here.

How can influencers help your business?

As we mentioned earlier, marketing through influencers is not new. It was one of the first forms of advertising that big brands used to gain attention. But, things have changed dramatically in recent years.

With the rise of social media, people are becoming more aware than ever before of just how powerful influence can be. Content creators seem to enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences with others so they can get feedback and learn from it.

This has led to an increase in the number of people who feel empowered to try out new products or find helpful information. In fact, according to Google reports, there’s a three-to-one ratio of online activity generated by users versus sellers. That means there’s tons of potential exposure for both individuals and businesses looking to spread their message.

There are also now lots of ways to work with influencers. You may already know some small YouTube stars or Facebook pages that you believe would be perfect advertisements for your product!

But instead of asking them if they would do a sponsored video or tweet about you, you can use technology to search for “marketing strategies” or “how to market a company” and see what types of content those experts share online. Then, contact these owners directly to ask if you could pay to feature their content either way – form a partnership or use direct sales to advertise your product.

Examples of influencer marketing

Recent studies show that brands are turning to social media influencers as a form of advertising to work. Brands pay popular individuals or groups for them to promote their products or service by sharing products or advertisements, creating reactions and comments about the advertisement or product, etc.

Influencer marketing has become very common because it works! It’s been scientifically proven to work and even improve brand awareness for advertisers – how great is that?

But before you start asking yourself if influencer marketing is worth your time and money, make sure you know what types of influencers exist and whether or not they're appropriate for your audience.

There are two main categories of influencers: lifestyle influencers and content creators. Lifestyle influencers focus more on using their personal style to advertise products, while content creators create YouTube videos, write blogs, and do other things to get attention.

This article will talk about some ways to determine if an influencer is trustworthy and effective for your business.

Are you an influencer?

Another term used for ‘influencers’ is 'content creators. This isn't strictly correct, but it's what people use the word to refer to. An influential person is someone that has social capital- they have lots of friends or followers that trust them and look up to them.

Influence can be built through relationships, reputation, contacts, position, power, or just plain old talk. It doesn't necessarily need to be direct contact - being well-known like Taylor Swift will influence many people about how to live their lives.

It's not always apparent who is influencing others, but we can usually tell when things are off. For example, if you watch TV and listen to music that makes you feel bad about yourself, then you're probably watching too much television! ; )

The reason why people believe that influencer marketing works are because marketers spend money creating and promoting products influenced by reviews and advertisements from these users. A lot of times, those reviewers get paid to advertise the product.

However, this doesn't mean that influencer marketing is without its flaws. The same thing happens with traditional advertising, where advertisers pay big money to get media exposure.

Consumers tend to agree more with the advertisement than criticism, so even though you may gain some knowledge from the reviewer, you end up thinking that the product is worth the price.

Tips for influencer marketing

As seen with traditional media, such as newspapers or magazines, influencers are very popular content creators. People love their knowledge of products and brands so they will often advertise for them by posting pictures and videos about them.

Influencers can make money off of advertising for brands, but not just any brand, it should be noted. Only purchase ads from trusted sources and make sure the advertisements are clearly marked as advertisement posts.

As mentioned before, this article will talk more in detail about how to use influencers to promote your product! Read on to learn more.

A lot of people try to make their blogs look like theirs alone, when in fact, you could be doing it wrong all along. You see, your style is yours; an authentic one that no one can take away from you.

But what if I told you that there are some great ways to pick up tips and tricks for your own style? That is why most big brands have someone in-house who does social media – they learned how to use it through research and personal trial and error.

I’m not saying to start copying what others do — that would definitely be boring! But by picking and choosing bits of different styles, you will find your own way to match whatever mood or setting you to want to convey.

And don’t worry about looking fake either – being natural always looks better than sticking out too much. What we read online seems very real to us.

Host a giveaway

As we mentioned before, one of the most important things to do as an influencer is to give away products or services that are related to your niche.

Influencers have always done this, but now it’s easier than ever to get free stuff!

Giveaways are usually announced on social media sites like Instagram or Twitter using their engagement tools. Your followers can enter by commenting or liking something, which boosts the popularity of the account and thus the chance of winning.

By giving these prizes away through a third-party site, you avoid having to pay for them directly. That way you don’t need to worry about making a profit off of them, too!

There are many ways to host a giveaway, from free online platforms to more expensive ones.

Produce a video

Recent studies show that almost half of all internet users now watch at least one online video every week! This is a significant chunk of people who are using your site to connect with others, learn new things, and have fun.

So how can you use influencers more effectively? Product launch videos are a great way to do this!

By adding in some basic components, you’ll make sure your message gets across and your audience enjoys watching it. Being authentic is also important so choose your settings carefully to ensure that feel real.

Making connections through sharing experiences or comments is an excellent way to gain trust which will help your marketing campaign succeed.

Buy advertising

Many people have given up on influencers as an advertisement tool because they feel that it is not working. It is very difficult to tell whether or not influencers are just self-promoting advertisements for their products or if they actually contribute to your business in some way.

If you are looking to use influencers to promote your product, make sure to look into the contract really closely before agreeing. Make sure to ask what percentage of the ad money goes towards promoting the brand, and how much the influencer keep for themselves.

There should be clear information about how the influencer will advertise your company and why it is important to have this done correctly.
