How Is Cryptocurrency Trending?

Recent events have made it very clear that there is a growing interest in cryptocurrencies. People are investing, trading, and discussing them at an unprecedented level. With every new development or announcement related to cryptocurrency, media coverage increases as well. This increased exposure has helped promote awareness and understanding of crypto.
Some people may even consider this a golden era for innovation as more and more innovative ideas emerge. What was once considered a niche technology is now mainstream!
Many believe that we are in the beginning stages of what will become a major disruption. By creating their own currency out of nothing, Satoshi Nakamoto changed the way economies function.
Cryptoeconomics, or studying how currencies work, is one of the most active research areas right now. Technology companies are incorporating blockchain into almost everything; from digital wallets to search engines.
Overall, many people are excited about the potential benefits that come with using cryptocurrencies. Some use coins for direct spending, some invest in coin markets, while others just talk about crypto. It seems like everyone feels either really passionate or extremely skeptical about these technologies.
This article will discuss several ways you can stay informed on the latest trends in the space. From talking about crypto to actually buying something, these tips will help you get familiar with the market. At the end, we will also do a summary on the biggest things to know about Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Ripple is down slightly today

This has not been an easy week for ripple, as it continues to be in the eye of the storm when it comes to cryptocurrency trends. On Sunday night, the price took quite a dive after some reports stated that there are questions about whether or not its CEO was up to no good.
This led to speculation that he may have broken securities laws and that his position at the company was untenable. Investors seemed to believe that he could no longer lead the company, which makes sense since he always boasts about how powerful XRP is.
However, this isn’t necessarily bad news for the currency. If anything, it shows just how popular XRP is!
The ripple community seems to come together during times like these, with people supporting each other and working to keep the coin afloat. Many investors seem to flock to XRP because they perceive it to be more trustworthy than many of the others out there.
It also doesn’t hurt that it is still one of the most stable cryptocurrencies you can buy. People love consistency!
There is already talk of ripple splitting into two separate coins, one focused on banking and another one on blockchain technology. While this won’t make it any less attractive, it will likely create smaller trading opportunities for those looking to invest.
Ethereum is down slightly today

This has not stopped it from being one of the top cryptocurrencies by market cap, with many referring to it as “The New Gold”. Many believe that ETH will continue its uptrend due to the fact that it is still relatively cheap compared to other coins (it is up over 300% year-to-date).
With every new cryptocurrency launch there is an initial period where the price drops dramatically before it starts to recover. This is because people are buying them during their early stages when they are underpriced. Then once the price stabilises, investors start investing more heavily in the coin.
This process happened with Bitcoin back in the beginning, and now it has been repeated with almost every major crypto project. It looks like we have entered this second stage for Ethereum right now!
If you were invested in Ether at the end of last week, then I would suggest waiting until later this month or next to enter at a lower price.
Litecoin is down slightly today

This past week, cryptocurrency market watchers were not too happy to see what appeared to be a bearish trend for much of the day. Almost every major crypto coin was in the red throughout most of the trading session with only the strong performers holding up the price trends.
Some coins even saw heavy losses that took them well below their earlier swing highs. Many traders speculated about whether or not this drop was due to fundamental reasons such as worries over regulation or exchanges losing money. Some pointed at the recent news stories regarding fraud related to some cryptocurrencies, but none could seem to agree on why exactly the prices had dropped so sharply.
Fortunately, we have some more information now! And it looks like things are back on track! At least according to one popular website’s analysis. More specifically, one analyst has published his thoughts on how both Bitcoin and Ethereum are performing relative to their own 7-day moving averages.
This article will talk you through the important points he made and how they relate to the current state of affairs for the cryptomarket as a whole.
Cardano is down slightly today

Since our last article about what makes an up trend for crypto, we took a look at some of the cryptocurrencies that are in the midst of their own small up trends. One such coin is Cardano (ADA).
Cardano has been moving steadily upward since early February when it hit its all-time high of $0.87 per ADA. It has now made its way back to around the $0.70 mark which is still quite a ways from where it was one month ago.
However, this does not make it any less exciting! The reason why it is so well received these days is because of the new features being added to the cryptocurrency.
These features will make card trading much more efficient and intuitive, which can only help it in terms of popularity.
There have even been talks of Cardano becoming the next Ethereum due to how close it is related to ETH. Both coins use similar technology and concepts, making it easy to switch to one or both as investors.
Tether is down slightly today

Recently, people have been talking about how some cryptocurrencies are trending. This happens when there is significant talk about an individual coin or group of coins. People seem to be investing in these coins, either because they believe in their long term success or due to media coverage.
Some examples of cryptocurrency trends include The Bitcoin Boom, where investment into bitcoin increased significantly over the past year. Another example is Ethereum, which has seen very large price increases since early this year.
There are many theories as to why these trends occur. Some say that it’s just because people want to invest in something new, but most agree that it’s at least partially fueled by media attention.
As we can see from our previous article, all currencies are influenced by several factors. In this article, we will discuss what influences the market for fiat currency (traditional, government issued money) and how crypto-currencies differ.
Bitcoin Cash is up slightly today

This comes as no surprise to most people who have been paying attention to cryptocurrency trends over the past few weeks, if not months. After all, it was only a couple of days ago that BTC made its dramatic drop from $14,000 down to around $10,000 before bouncing back up.
It seems like every day brings another price increase for some new crypto coin or another major exchange adding more cryptocurrencies. Plus, you can’t forget about the constant stream of rumors surrounding almost every popular currency.
These stories usually focus on whether or not the coin will be succeeded by either its bigger brother (see what I did there) or doom and gloom about how much trouble the project will eventually cause. Obviously, this has an effect on the price!
I’m talking about market volatility here. Even investing in cryptocurrency isn’t necessarily the easy way out anymore. There are always reasons why the price is going up or down.
So, how does one determine which currencies are still worth buying? For that, we look at two things: 1) Does it continue to grow in value, and 2) Did it stay within a reasonable range during the downtrend.
The first part is pretty simple – those currencies that keep growing in value are definitely worth looking into. A good gauge is to see just how expensive each coin was a week ago versus now. If it is less than double the cost, then it may be a worthy investment.
Ripple is down significantly today

This has got people talking, sparking lots of conversations about what is going on with this cryptocurrency. Many speculate that there may be some sort of scandal surrounding ripple, or rumors of it collapsing. People are either buying or selling depending on if they like or dislike ripple at the moment.
Since most major banks now accept cryptocurrencies as form of payment, investors are getting more exposure to the crypto market which can sometimes lead to greater investment.
By investing in other cryptocurrencies, your portfolio becomes less dependent on investments in one specific coin. That way you preserve investor confidence in the currency. If everyone gets rid of their money, your investment will still survive!
Overall though, this drop seems pretty significant so we should all probably stay away from ripples for now.
Ethereum is down significantly today

This has got people very, very concerned. Many believe that this drop is due to some sort of security breach or scandal surrounding the platform. People are rushing to claim their Ether (the cryptocurrency tied to Ethereum) before it’s lost.
Some say that there was an announcement made about hard forks being postponed which caused investors to sell off in fear. Others think that there was just an announcement made about something else which scared investors away.
Whatever the reason may be, many are not liking the look of things for the price of Ether at the moment.
It seems like everyone wants their money back! At least for now. Some will probably never hold Ether again but at the same time, nobody ever really held Bitcoin either. It’s just how markets work.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing though as we'll see later on in this article.
