Changing your trending location on Twitter can be tricky, especially if you want it to stay private. Luckily, changing your country is not very hard! You will have to go into settings, find the right field, pick from countries or states, and then confirm that you are located there.

Once done, give the new trending topic some time to update before checking where it actually ranks in terms of popularity.

It may take several minutes for the site to fully refresh with all the information, so be patient!

Changing your trend setting location is definitely an interesting experiment, one that cannot hurt unless you really wanted to see what everyone was talking about.

Tap on the Twitter logo

To change your location setting from World to Country or Region, tap on the profile picture in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Then, choose “Settings” beneath that. You can now pick between Country and City as your location.

You can also switch which language you would like to use for your tweets. By picking a new country or region style, you will have to take care of other settings such as time zone and currency!

Twitter has some great features especially if you are running your own business account. Changing your location setting is one of them. All businesses should make sure they are using the correct country settings so their messages get seen by the right people.

Go to Settings

In the settings section of your account, you can choose to change the location where people view your profile information. You can also opt to hide or show your email address and other contact info.

You’ll find this setting under “Settings.” On the left side of the screen, you will see something called “Privacy.” Click that button to open up the settings for privacy.

There you can manage all types of personal data that contain your name, phone number, job position, etc. You can toggle these features on or off by changing the slider bar.

In addition to those main categories, there are more specific options within each one. For example, under “Location Privacy,” you can turn on/off whether people viewing your profile know where you live and work. You get similar choices for hiding your email address and professional title.

This feature is helpful if you want to share less detailed information about yourself, but still let people search through your profile.

Changing your location setting on social media sites is pretty common. You can choose to change yours from only national settings to worldwide, or you can keep it as just that – national.

If you decide to switch it to worldwide, you will need to confirm this for every site you have signed up for. This includes Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

By changing your account’s location setting, some features may be limited. For example, you might not be able to see all of the profiles in the world wide area, nor would people outside of your country being able to view your profile.

However, you will be able to see the same content anyone else could, and you get access to all the features of the website! The best way to make sure everything functions properly is to test out the changes before making them live.

The second setting allows you to choose whether your location settings are country specific, state or province-specific, or city or area level. At the most basic level, choosing Area will update your profile picture, username, and phone number to show where you live, but not necessarily where you’re located at this moment.

The more advanced levels allow you to pick specific countries, states, provinces, cities, or areas within those groups as your geographical limits. For example, if you only wanted to specify that you lived in Canada then “Canada” would be selected under Country and your profile photo, usernames, and phone numbers would match that of living in Canada.

By selecting State under Location, you can likewise limit yourself to showing your presence in one given region or time frame. Setting Province or City is similar to limiting it to just one town or city.

Make sure that Your location is marked as the default location

Changing your location setting on Twitter can be tricky, especially if you are not using it frequently. If you use Twitter for business or to promote your business, changing your location settings could mean losing followers and exposure!

Changing your location setting from country level to worldwide will remove this limitation.

Open the Twitter app and look for a new trend

Changing the location of your trending topic is easy to do! You can choose whether you want it to be worldwide, country-specific, or city-based.

To change the location of your trending topic, head over to the Settings tab in the drop down menu. Then, under “Trends”, pick one from the drop down menus. Click Save Changes to apply the changes.

You will now have to wait until people use that hashtag before it trends as the different locations. It may take some time depending on how popular the hashtag is!

If you would like to keep the current trends, just click cancel instead of save changes. You will then return back to having only national trends.

Change your location in the Twitter app

Changing your location setting within the Twitter app is one of the easier ways to change your trending locations. You can choose to add any country, state or city as an additional location.

To do this, you will first need to go into Settings > Account > Addresses from here, you can then pick from Country, State or City. After picking your new location, you will be asked if you want to Update Now! Then, you will see that your trends have been reorganized and are no longer limited to your chosen area.

You can also remove a current location by choosing “Keep updating” under update notifications.

Reboot your phone

If you are unhappy with the way that your location settings work, then it is time to completely reset them. You can do this by creating a new account or logging into an existing one using a fresh device.

If you have been running out of space due to excessive use of geofencing or limit lifting because you don’t want people to know where you are at all times, then it is time to start anew. Reset these settings so they no longer influence your profile.

You can also choose to turn off GPS tracking for apps, which will prevent those apps from always knowing where you are. This could help you avoid having to pay extra for mobile data used for checking in or browsing through the app while you are already paying enough as it is.
