Recent rumors suggest that Google is planning to make changes to its search engine system, changing how it indexes and ranks web pages. Some say this will be done every few months, while others claim it will happen once a year or even more frequently.

No one really knows what to expect from these upcoming algorithm updates, but there are some things you can do now to prevent your rankings being hurt if they occur soon.

In this article, we’ll talk about two common ways to remove hot searches that are out of place. We’ll also look at some other strategies for preventing your phone from constantly updating due to missing data or bad connections.

Removing hot keywords

This happens when someone performs an action using a feature called quick launch. A quick launch is like tapping into internet searching quickly (like creating a new email) by going through a separate app instead of doing it directly in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome.

By adding advertisements or sponsored links to the browser, companies create a way to profit off of you looking up information or buying products. This is why you may have noticed some browsers seem slower than normal- it's because they're full of ads!

The websites you visit may contain quick launches as well, making it hard to perform actions without promoting them. By removing such sites from your device, you can reduce the effect slightly.

Press and hold on the home screen

The next step is to press and hold on the homescreen to bring up your apps. Now, go through each app until you find the one that has those annoying trending searches.

Press down on the search bar of the app (the part where you type in a question or ask something) and choose “remove from this user”. You will now have access to remove these trends for just that person!

If you want to clear it as a whole account, tap “Remove from all users” at the bottom of the settings.

A menu will appear

The Settings option is called Limit Search Results. This feature works in much the same way as limiting search results for Google or YouTube, except it’s limited to just your iPhone app browser instead of the whole web.

By choosing this setting, you can limit the number of apps that show up in the Browser list to five. If you choose one more than that, then the extra ones won’t even make it into the list!

You also have the choice of how many minutes each set of five apps should be displayed before changing the next batch. You could go all out and refresh the list every minute, or you could save some battery life by only doing so every couple of minutes.

Select Edit

Recent searches can get out of hand, which is why most mobile search apps have an option to delete your recent searches. You can access this by selecting “Edit” under your recently searched for terms.

This feature removes all traces of your past searches from the app, including what you typed into the search bar as well as the add-on features such as GIFs or YouTube videos.

You will also need to clear your internet browser data if you use Google Chrome or Firefox as those both sync with the Android operating system, where iOS does not.

Select History

In iOS 11, Apple replaced their default app for accessing your history with Google Chrome as their search engine of choice. With this new system, you can now access Your Recent Apps, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly Histories!

You get very specific information such as what site you visited, how long it took to load, and if there were any errors while loading.

This is extremely helpful since this data was not accessible before!

These histories are only limited to mobile Safari though, so do not worry about anyone getting full web browsing info. This makes it more discreet than using the built-in browser.

There is an easy way to remove these searches completely! Let’s look at some ways to do that.

Select the tabs you want to delete

Now that you have found all of your search apps, it is time to actually go through and remove them! To begin, click on the “Delete from this iPhone” button at the top left corner of the screen.

Next, choose whether to completely uninstall each app or simply hide it from the Home Screen. You can also decide to keep some as backup apps, but do not use these features until after you have deleted every single one!

After deleting all of your search apps, a quick note about Google Search and YouTube. You will need to either disable or remove their mobile device data plan or purchase an additional one before being able to fully activate the feature.

Press Delete

If you feel that your iPhone is performing poorly due to slow down issues, it could be because of some background processes running in the system. One such process is Safari, the mobile browser that Apple uses as their standard.

Safari has several features that help it run faster including keeping an eye on what websites you visit often so that they do not have to re-compile information about those sites.

However, if for no reason whatsoever you decide to close all open tabs, then it will automatically save these infomration on every site you visited!

This can get out of hand very quickly when there are many sites with frequent activity.

Restart your iPhone

If you are ever experiencing issues with your phone, one of the first things that people do is restart it! Your device will go through an initial start up process which includes loading all of the apps, settings, and files.

After this, your device should function normally again! Sometimes, when Apple or third party developers update their software or features, there may be a quick launch or reset needed before users can access them.

This is totally normal! It happens constantly as technology changes and expands.

If your phone seems very slow or takes a long time to respond after launching an app or using certain functions, then try switching off Location Services for the app that is causing the issue. You can also simply turn off location tracking for the app altogether if necessary.

Log back into your iPhone

The next step is to log back in to your phone! If you have access to your computer, you can easily do this there. Otherwise, you can use a smartphone app that makes it easy to connect with Google or Gmail.

Once you are logged onto your device, go to Settings > Privacy > History to view and manage your past browsing activity. From here, you can choose whether to delete all browser data, only mobile Safari session information, or neither! (If you decide later that you would prefer to keep your searches, you can always change those settings.
