Recent days have seen an epidemic of people reporting issues when using the Google search app on their smartphone or tablet. Issues range from apps crashing, the interface being cluttered, and even the whole experience becoming unusable.

If you are one of the many people experiencing these issues, it is very important to determine what can be done about them. This article will go into detail on how to remove the annoying trended searches that have become synonymous with the Google Search App.

Removal Method #1: Clear All Data For The Google Application

This should always be your first stop if you encounter any sort of Android related issue. By clearing all data for the application, whatever service it may use to function as normal has its space cleared out and can reload without error.

Google Applications

Mostly made up of third party libraries, most google applications require some form of authentication in order to work properly. If this authentication is removed or deleted, then the application cannot connect and refresh correctly!

Removal Method #2: Reset Your Default Browser

Another way to fix this is by resetting your default browser.

In addition to being able to delete an app, you can also remove any recent searches or widgets from the home screen. To do this, choose the Menu option at the top of the Settings area.

Under Recent Apps, you will find one section that says Clear User Data. You can toggle this setting here, but remember that doing so will not only clear your phone’s data, it will also clear all apps you have installed!

To keep track of what you download, go into Help under My Account and check out Your Mobile App Downloads. This is also where you can manage them if you want to re-download something later.

Tap on Settings

In the Settings section, you can check if there are any unwanted or suspicious apps that have been using your phone’s internet connection frequently. You may also want to look into this if your phone is acting slow due to too many notifications.

If you find an app causing these issues, you can remove it completely by clicking “Remove” under “Apps using our services.” Once removed, you will need to download the app again before being able to use it.

You don’t necessarily have to worry about removing popular apps like Facebook, but other apps such as game servers or YouTube can quickly add up! It’s best to be aware of which apps are resource intensive so that you can avoid them when possible.

Tap on Privacy

Tap on History

In the Settings area, you can find a section called ‘History’. Here, you can see all of your past searches as well as any apps that were recently opened or closed.

You can clear out this data by clicking on the menu in the top-right corner and selecting Clear Browser Data. Then, you will have to manually delete each item one at a time.

Tap on Delete History

In your search history, you can see all of the searches you made before. Some apps even have an option to save past queries so that they are not shown in this section.

If you want to remove a specific search from here, tap it first to make sure there’s no longer a link to it. Then, press delete to get rid of it.

You will then be taken back to the main screen where you can choose whether to keep or remove recent contacts, messages, calls, notes, and more.

After that, you will need to manually clear your data for some applications. This includes the browser, photos, music, videos, and more. You do this by selecting each app separately and choosing “Data cleaning” or “Clear storage”.

Some apps cannot be cleared automatically, but you can still clean them yourself by heading into Settings > Manage Apps > [App name] and clicking Clear Data.
