Recent searches can be fun to check out, but they also expose some sensitive information about you. People create search queries for all sorts of things- looking up recipes or how to do something, finding coupons, and exploring new parts of the web are just a few examples.

When people use popular keywords in their search queries, it may indicate that they are conscious or unconscious about whatever topic has become hot.

For example, if your search query includes the word “selfie”, this may mean that you take yourself too seriously and want more attention. Or, it could be because you’re obsessed with selfies!

Either way, this is not a good thing. It may show signs of self-doubt or insecurity, which are very opposite feelings from what we should have as individuals and professionals.

It may also signal trouble at work or home - someone may be asking about an important part of your life and what you're struggling with. This is why it is best to hide past search trends.

This article will teach you three easy ways to do this.

Create a list of your top trending searches

Recent search trends can tell us a lot about what people are interested in these days. If you’re looking to develop your site or brand, you could use this information to find new areas to focus your energy.

By adding some stealth SEO strategies, you can hide how much time you spent researching these trends. You can then add these services as sponsored links which will support your website or business!

Add keywords to your browser's search bar

Recent trends are influenced by what people look at online, so how you surf can have an effect on the next big trend. You may be familiar with this concept already – when you do a Google search, you're probably aware that the top results often feature sponsored content or advertisements.

So why not take advantage of that and make sure those ads don't show up in your searches? There are several ways to do this.

You can either completely disable the "suggestions" section in your web browser's search tool, turn off quick previews for popular sites, or use a separate app like Brave Browser (which we'll talk about later) to block ad trackers. All three of these will help reduce the number of sponsored links in your search queries.

But what if you really want that new pair of shoes or bag? Or maybe you just want to read The New Yorker but no one else does because it costs money! Luckily, there is another way to stay ahead of the trends.

We’ll go into more detail below, but here’s a short reminder: When you do a search, add some words that describe what kind of thing you’re looking for. Then, all of the sudden, the site you wanted to visit will come up as a result!

This works because most websites contain lots of key words to tell other computers where to send their files.

Use the search engine history

There are several ways to access your browser’s search bar, or what we refer to as the omnibox. Some people may still be using the old fashioned way of starting their web browsing session with Google or Firefox by creating an account and logging into it, but most use the more advanced method now!

The advanced method is called the omnibox or the search box. This allows you to not only enter keywords, but also fill out longer questions or statements that require more context. For example, if you wanted to learn more about dogs, then typing “what is the difference between dog breeds?” would produce results.

By adding?q= at the end of any keyword, this will create a linked query which can easily be found in the search tools under Explore>Linked Queries.

Use the private browsing window

One of the most common ways to hide your search history is to use the private browsing feature in your browser.

This allows you to close down your current web session, but still have access to your data. You can also be sure that no one else can view your activity while using this feature.

Most browsers now have an easy way to create a new private tab or window. After creating it, you will need to deactivate any tracking tools like AdBlockers or privacy programs such as Firefox’s Privacy Badger. This will prevent these apps from recording your past activities!

You may want to consider adding personal notes or closing certain accounts before starting your private browsing session to remove potentially sensitive information.

Use the private browsing browser

If you feel like your search history is getting too crowded, you can use the private browsing mode of a web browser to conceal what sites you have visited. This will help prevent other people from seeing all of your past searches for possible signs about who you are as person or information you want to keep secret.

Private browsing in Google Chrome

To create an anonymous session in Google Chrome, choose Settings > Show All Tools > Private Browsing Mode. Press Start Private Browsing to activate it.

You can still take notes during this time, save passwords, and even download files, but none of these things remain traceable unless you actively opt into them being visible. You can also easily re-enter normal browsing by exiting private browsing.

Use the private browsing app

Recent trends are constantly showing up in your search history due to you doing something you probably didn’t mean to. You made an online purchase, visited a site that has a rich content community or just clicked on a link for fun!

It seems like every day we read about another person who found out someone was watching their profile, their YouTube channel, or their Instagram account. This happens because people use different apps in private mode, which don’t save information such as your name, email address, and phone number.

These apps can be free so there is no cost for using them if you want privacy. Most of these apps let you create an anonymous login so it won’t connect your real identity to your device.

Use the incognito browser

If you find that your search history is not private, there are some things you can do to make it more stealthy. One of these is using an anonymous or “incognito” browsing session.

You can access this mode by clicking the arrow in the top-right corner of any new Chrome window (or Firefox for web pages) and selecting Incognito as the profile type. This will create a separate browser instance with different cookies, histories, and cache data than your regular one.

By adding this layer of protection, you may be able to go back later and check whether someone was looking through your past searches.

Know your search engine

Recent trending searches are always displayed in the Search Tools section of Google, Bing, and Yahoo! depending on which one you use for searching.

While some may consider this feature annoying, it is also a very helpful tool. You get an insight into what people are looking up around the globe and how popular certain topics are at the moment.

By adding yourself to the list of ‘Trusted users’ of these websites, you will no longer see those trends. It is best to do so before they appear in the public eye though as it can be embarrassing or even harmful if someone else finds out about them.

You should also remember that this tool does not automatically mean that those searches will stay private forever unless you take additional steps mentioned here.
