Modern Marketing Channels

As technology advances, so do marketing channels! Gone are the days when you could focus only on solid-body advertisements or billboards to reach your audience. Now, with the use of social media, texting, email, chat, video, and more, you can target and market your product to specific audiences, at any time, anywhere!
With all these new ways to spread your message, it can become difficult to know what is effective and worth investing in. With that being said, here we will discuss some of the least expensive and most efficient modern marketing channels. We will talk about how brands have used them to succeed, what people should look for as they evaluate which channel to add to their campaign, and what types of companies would benefit from using each one.
Many of these services provide special discounts to individuals and businesses who use them frequently, making it more affordable to invest in them. This article may help you determine whether or not those discounts are worth it.
Social media marketing
With the explosion of social networking sites, it is almost impossible to run a business these days that does not have some sort of presence on at least one site.
With all of the free options out there, creating an account can be a little confusing. Which sites are worth joining? What should you include in your profile? How do you use the software effectively? And what benefits will this website help your business achieve?
There are many different types of accounts available, so which ones would best fit your business!
Some businesses make the mistake of thinking they can manage their Facebook account on their own, but it is really important to know how to use it.
Social media has become integral part of our daily lives. People rely heavily on websites and apps for information, communication, and fun. By adding a voice to the web, you get exposure for yourself or your company.
It’s like having your very own radio station only better because people can interact with you and you get feedback.
Digital advertising

Advertising via digital channels has become the norm. With the explosion of technology, there are now many ways to advertise. You can use apps, websites, social media sites, YouTube videos, and more to promote your product or service.
Apps like Snapchat allow you to put up advertisements for a short amount of time by creating an advertisement that is interactive. Your audience gets to add to the advertisement, which increases exposure!
Websites such as Facebook and Twitter let advertisers target their specific audiences, making it much easier to find who may be interested in your products or services.
Social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest also offer ad space to business owners, allowing them to market themselves and grow their followers.
By using all these various mediums, you increase the chances of someone reading your advertisement and leaving a favorable impression.
Radio marketing

With the explosion of technology, there are now many ways to market a business. Gone are the days when you’d have to spend hours sitting in a studio listening to the radio to get your message across!
With all sorts of new media channels emerging every day, it is virtually impossible for most businesses to stay competitive unless they actively use at least one tool in their arsenal. That being said, radio has always been an effective way to reach out to people and promote products and services.
It is not too expensive to start broadcasting your own radio show, so why not give it a try? There are several free softwares that can easily be used to develop your broadcast style and genre. Many even allow you to upload your own music or pay per minute to find a voice match for your station!
But what about the listeners?
As with any form of communication, there will definitely be those who dislike or feel disturbed by what you say during your broadcasts. You should never advertise anything while this happens, which is why it is important to test the waters before launching into full-scale campaigns.
See how well your audience responds to different types of content before investing more time and money into it. More than likely, you will find that most people are open to hearing advertisements, especially if you appeal to them.
Broken down, this makes sense as we as humans need to learn how to enjoy commercials to know what needs to be purchased.
TV marketing

With the explosion of technology, there are now many ways to market your business. Television is one of the most powerful media types that you can use to promote yourself or your product/service.
Television has actually become the second highest used channel type after the internet for buying products and services. This isn’t limited to just watching television either; some companies have made it easy to order online or pick up at a store.
With all these options, people don’t need to go through the hassle of going out somewhere to buy something anymore. All they need to do is check out this new website or app and place an order!
This is great for businesses as more exposure means more potential customers. Even if someone doesn’t want to purchase anything immediately, they may be inspired to by seeing advertisements or hearing testimonials about your company.
There are also things like reverse auctions where sellers advertise their items lower than what they would normally cost so those looking to save money can find them. These work similarly to auction sites such as eBay.
Out of home advertising

OOH or also known as out-of-home advertising is one of the most effective marketing strategies at this time. It’s when you put up advertisements that are displayed either on billboards, bus shelters, taxi windows, or any other medium where your audience may be spending their time.
For example, if you own a restaurant, then you would spend money putting up ads for your business in places such as parking lots, garage doors, and even on the side of buses!
These advertisements can be to promote a product or service, tout a new event, or just about anything else. For our topic, we will talk about how to use billboard posters as an efficient way to promote your car dealership.
What is interesting about oopartnerships is that they don’t necessarily have to involve a seller and a buyer per se. More often than not, both parties contribute resources from separate areas with separate purposes, and voila! You have yourself a partnership!
Here’s what my partner and I have done lately — he contributes his talent by creating eye catching billboard posters, and I coordinate all the different partners to place them where it makes sense for their business.
Online advertising

Advertising online is a very accessible way to reach your audience. You can use advertisements or sponsored content on social media sites, blogs, YouTube videos, and more.
Online ads are typically displayed in two different ways: through youified pages that promote a product or service or via third-party websites where advertisers pay to have their products featured.
The difference between these two types of advertising is how targeted they are. An advertiser may sponsor an article written about yoga for beginners because they want to target people looking for tips on practicing yoga. Or, they may choose to advertise on a site with a lot of traffic so their ad will be seen by many potential customers.
There are several free tools you can use to test the effectiveness of your marketing strategies.
Print advertising

There are two main types of print advertisements- full page ads and feature articles or magazines. Full page ads are very in depth, almost always include calls to action (AN INVESTMENT!), and can be expensive to create depending on how large the advertisement is. Feature article ads are much shorter than a normal article, but they often contain enough information for people to determine what product or service they can find.
Feature article ads are usually free to produce unless you are paying for their circulation which most companies will not. What makes this type of ad special is that it does not need to make direct appeals to your desire to buy their products, instead they use supporting paragraphs and/or illustrations to help promote their product.
Don’t forget about the importance of branding

Even if you're not planning to use social media channels, design your business and personal style to match and emphasize the brands you want people to associate with you.
As we've discussed before, even if you don't have a Facebook account, your followers can tell when you are invested in what you are posting, promoting and supporting. You will start to receive compliments on how great you look and what a wonderful person you are, which is definitely flattering!
Your brand really sets up expectations for your audience, and they'll be thinking about your company along with the ones that value your creative expression. Take some time to consider what makes your organization unique, and let those differences shine through in everything you do.
