Why Should I Become An Influencer?

This article will discuss why I should become an influencer, and how I can convert my Twitter followers to my sponsors.

I'm out here, and I'm not alone.

Companies all around the world are trying to find the next big influencer, which means that you, too, can get paid for being an influencer.

Many of us spend our days on social media, building networks and making a few pennies here and there from likes and follows and retweets. It's a way to make a little extra money without getting on your toes.

What happens though, when you do see a big opportunity and when you're part of a company that's trying to get the most from influencer marketing?

I get it, you want to make a big impact. You want to make a lot of money.

You want to have the influence and reach that makes you famous. You want to be the big time influencer that no one can ignore.

You want to earn $100,000 a month, or maybe even more! I get it.

But before you start thinking about how to monetize your social media, ask yourself: Why?

What are your motivations? What do you really want to do with your time?

First off, take a look at the top influencers in your industry. In marketing, there's undoubtedly thousands of these people, but not all of them have the same passion for the industry.

Take Meghan Markle. She may be engaged to Prince Harry, but she's not using her popular blog, The Tig, to promote British organic skincare, based on her experience with her mother-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex, or, better yet, her culinary expertise, as she's a chef.

On the other hand, you could have a huge following on social media, but you're making all the money from a few posts you throw up once a month.

When you think about it, having the best strategy for your own followers is what will bring in the most return. The fewer the posts, the better.

You need to be a marketer for your followers.

Now that we've established why we should be involved in influencer marketing, let's look at the steps we need to take to turn our twitter followers into our first $100,000.

Become well-worn

You need to build your brand around being well-worn. Make sure your Twitter followers know who you are and that you're a brand you're excited to be a part of.

Develop a loyal base of followers. Post consistently on Twitter.

Post on all the social media platforms you use. Talk about how much you love a company, how much you believe in a product.

Follow and engage with other influencers on your social media.

Be engaging, but make sure your followers get the sense that you're genuine.

That's the first step: develop a following.

Now that your followers have connected with you, they'll want to learn more. That's when you begin to get paid for your posts.

You have to prove that you're someone they want to talk to, not just someone who tweets about a brand on their behalf.

Make sure you're in regular contact with your followers. Drop in a line with a quick message, like an emoji, or use the hashtag to connect with your followers.

Market to them

Use social media as a marketing tool. Post a weekly roundup of your social media posts, including photos, links, and recommendations.

Be sure to include an image so you can follow through with your captions. Make sure it's consistent with the rest of your posts, and be sure to use a nice font to reflect the tone of your content.

Share a weekly challenge with your followers to get involved.

Be sure to give your followers advice on how to use social media. Be proactive.

For example, when you were working at IGN, what was your main Twitter strategy?

  • Marketing
  • Social media tools
  • Encourage users to connect with one another

By providing these key pieces of content, your audience has a better idea of what you stand for, and they trust you more.

Ask them to share

What you're really doing here is getting your followers to spread the word of your brand.

Ask your followers to share your content on their personal social media accounts.

There's no better way to engage with a user than to ask them to share your post.

Ask them to retweet or share your content. This helps you expand your reach even further.

Create interactive content that will encourage your audience to provide you feedback.

That's another great way to work with your followers to create content for you.

These are the main strategies you need to use, in order to turn a few thousand followers into $100,000 or more.

Key success factorsJust trying something new....

In order to be successful, you need to have a few key success factors to follow when building your influencer marketing campaign. When building your influencer marketing campaign, you need to ensure that your influencers will actually deliver on their promise to your customer.

One of the biggest mistakes many companies make when working with influencers is that they assume they can rely on them for all of their content. That is simply not true.

Your influencer is a business, and therefore, they must act and look like a real business. Your influencer needs to bring something to the table other than business.

People buy from people they like and trust.

As a marketer, you have to respect that. A good rule of thumb is to find an influencer who will act as a true champion for your brand.

By finding a top influencer, you are bringing them into the process of marketing your company. You are giving them the opportunity to add their voice to your efforts and participate in the development of your company's social media presence.

This shows your audience that they are engaging and providing value, which will make them more likely to buy from you. The more visible that your influencer is, the more significant they will become to your customers, which will put your brand in front of more eyeballs.
